SO SOFITEL HUA HIN
The Overview
Bold, funky, and eminently stylish design elements are littered throughout the 77 rooms, suites and pool villas at this upscale boutique. The resort’s location on the pearl-sands of Cha-am puts it mercifully far from the more heavily touristed streets of downtown Hua Hin, making it easy for guests to relax in plush surrounds. Prior to its current incarnation, the place was known as Hotel de la Paix, created in cooperation with legendary Thai architect Duangrit Bunnag, and the resort retains its original distinctive charm. Eye-popping interiors are courtesy of French designer Donatien Carratier, while the striking staff uniforms were designed by Polpat Asavaprapha, the creative director of the Thai fashion brand Asava.
Beautiful people can be spotted sunning themselves at Beach Society by the pool with a bespoke cocktail—try the chili-infused Some Like It Hot—or savoring contemporary spins on Thai cuisine at White Oven. The unconventional design extends to the opulent SoSPA and Hi-So, a buzzing rooftop bar and the best place in the area for sundowners.
